Not all businesses are registered for GST. E.g. in Australia businesses with turn over less than $75,000 are not required to register for GST.

In File > Config > Accounting Setup, set “Default sales tax” to NIL. This means when invoices are generated, NIL tax code will be used by default.

Note – in SportLogic system all amounts are tax-inclusive. E.g. to set up a coaching lesson fee, you must enter the tax-inclusive amount. Let’s say $110 is the coaching lesson fee payable by student then it implies $100 plus $10 sales tax (10% GST). When system adds this fee to an invoice…

  • If the default sales tax setting is GST, the fee amount will be AS-IS on the invoice, i.e. $110 with the tax code GST.
  • If the default sales tax setting is NIL, the fee amount will be “recalculated” to have the tax amount removed e.g. it will become $100 on the invoice with the tax code NIL.

If a business wishes to set up amounts AS-IS, e.g. don’t charge GST at all, so $100 fee means customer pays $100, then set the GST tax rate to 0% in Accounting Setup.

(Note this is not recommended if the business charges GST on certain items only e.g. a school offers after school services and needs to charge GST on external students but no GST for in-school students.)
